The BNI Indonesian Masters has been part of the prestigious Asian Tour since 2011 and was the brainchild of Jimmy Masrin, a renowned businessman who with his passion for golf has managed to gather together several remarkable instituions that operate across various busines spectrums in Indonesia to support the game of golf in Indonesia.
BNI the state owned bank, is the eponymous sponsor of the event itself, as well as PT. Medco Energi Indonesia an oil and gas giant which has graciously supported the Indonesian Masters and BRI the oldest and one of the largest banks in Indonesia.
Swinging into the action and impressing everyone was Indonesian amateur golfer Naraajie Emerald Ramadhanputra who top scored with a 65 (seven under par) in the opening round. 19 year old Naarajie made great strides in his fledgling career by positng a series of birdies. He was also not alone as the Indonesian contingent delivered a strong showing with players such as Danny Masrin, Elki Kow, Benita Y. Kasiadi, Jonathan Wijono, and J. Andrew Wirawan, all of whom were flying the Red and White Flag high.
With the total prize money of the tournament amounting to USD 750,000, the Indonesian Masters attracts a vast array of golfing talent both from within the region and from afar.
As the flagship tournament on the Asian Tour, the BNI Indonesian Masters will award the winner with at least 20 Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. Winners of this tournament will also get tickets to appear at the prestigious World Golf Championships - FedEx St. Jude Invitational in 2020.
