Gelaran Wastra: Fashion Show, Talk Show, Exhibition Batik Peranakan

To commemorate Lunar New Year, Gelaran Wastra presented Batik Peranakan which was held in Sultan Hotel and Residence’s lobby on February 4-6th 2022.

Wastra literally means Indonesian traditional fabric that has its own meaning and symbol. The event mainly exhibited batik collection by Dave Tjoa, SME brands, talk show and fashion show (by Roemah Kebaya Vielga and Batik Tien Coastal) in collaboration with Yayasan Belantara Budaya Indonesia and The Sultan Hotel & Residence. The event also featured dance show by Mitra Hadi Prana and Javanese Gamelan by Laras Kanita.

“In the future, the Gelaran Wastra will be held regularly in various themes, not only batik, but also other kinds of wastra such as tenun and ikat, also traditional performances. We want people to dig deeper into our Nusantara heritage,” said Diah Kusumawardani Wijayanti, the founder of Yayasan Belantara Budaya Indonesia. Dave Tjoa (batik observer and exhibition curator), I Nyoman Sarya (VP Operations The Sultan Hotel & Residence) were also attended at the event.
