BNI Indonesian Masters 2023, Bhullar Affirms His Lead by 3 Strokes

Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar's dominance continues at the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Tunas Niaga Energi 2023 at Royale Jakarta Golf Club. Finishing the second round today, Bhullar widened the gap with his competitors after successfully scoring 67 (4-under-par). With this result, the 35-year-old golfer's position is getting stronger at the top of the tournament standings with a total prize of US$1.5 million with a 3-shot advantage.
Starting the second round from tee 1, Bhullar appeared confident. Four birdies can be scored until hole 8. However, on hole 9, Bhullar stumbled and was forced to make a bogey. On the back nine, Bhullar picked up two birdies on holes 12 and 16. Again, a bogey on hole 17 reduced his under-par score. A 4-under-par score concluded the 36-hole game.
Bhullar leads by three strokes from Canadian golfer Richard T. Lee and and four strokes from 2018 US Masters major tournament champion Patrick Reed (USA). The second round of BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Tunas Niaga Energi 2023 qualified 72 golfers to the last 2 rounds (November 18 and 19). The cut limit is set at a total score of 140 (2-under-par).
Of the 72 golfers who passed the cut, Indonesia still continues the tradition by 2 of its best golfers moving to the final 2 rounds. Jonathan “Jowi” Wijono first made his way to round 3 of BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Tunas Niaga Energi 2023 smoothly. When the cut limit was set at 2-under-par (140), Jowi managed to finish 36 holes at 5-under-par after finishing round 2 with a 69 (2-under-par).
Starting the second round from the 10th tee, Jowi was able to close the first nine holes with two birdies so that while collecting a total of 5-under-par. Unfortunately, on hole 10, Jowi made a double bogey. However, he managed to get up and finish the second nine holes with an additional two birdies.
A 69 in the second round finally qualified Jowi, who accumulated a total score of 137, to the third round for the first time in four attempts at Indonesia's biggest professional tournament. He occupies T21 and is only 2 strokes away from the golfers in the Top 5 standings.
After Jowi, Kevin C. Akbar also followed the success of his former teammate in the Indonesian national team during his amateur days by making the cut. Starting the second round of play with a score of 2-over-par (73), Kevin who always applies his holiday mindset in every game performed brilliantly by posting a score of 67 (4-under-par). Collecting a total score of 2-under-par, the 25-year-old golfer repeated his success to the next round by scoring 6 birdies and 2 bogeys.
